Bach Cantata 48 Movements 1-4

Movement 1:
Chorus: Ritornello form, use of canon, hemiola (2 bars of 3/4 sound like 3 bars or 2/4), tierce de Picardie (major chord added to minor chord progression)
Movement 2:
Recitative: Syllabic word setting(how it is said, word painting), accompanied continuo (continuo and string section), dissonance, modulation to foreign key, use of melodic fragments to emphasise the lyrics(sighing effect).
Movement 3:
Chorale: Diatonic, use of chromatic harmony, typical Bach suspensions, unexpected modulations to G minor and Ab Major.
Movement 4:
Aria: Obbilgato aria (has an obligatory instrumental solo, expected), early type of walking bass through the movement, Ritornello form, use of themes and quotations from other movements.
